The moderation of the sale of housing does not affect the growth of the construction

BBVA Research points out that, although the sale of homes maintains the tone of "moderation" of previous months, at the moment its behaviour does not affect the construction activity, which "continues to exhibit robust growth."

This is the latest Real Estate Observatory in Spain, prepared by BBVA Research, the financial institution's research department, which emphasizes that the determinants of demand maintained the "good tone", so "it seems that they will follow the tenor Of consumer data and consumer confidence in January".

The observatory notes that, according to data from the General Council of Notaries, during November 2016 the number of home sale transactions amounted to 40,464, implying a month-on-month contraction of 3.1%, after correcting the seasonality of the serie. However, in interannual terms, transactions showed a growth of 11.8%, above the one recorded in the previous month. This increase was due to a less marked decrease in the sale of new homes (-5.2%) and a higher growth of used housing operations (13.9%).

As a result, between January and November 2016, 408,097 homes were sold, an increase of 12.9% over the same period of the previous year.
