The price of housing in Spain rose by 2.4% in April 2017, while operations fell slightly
In terms of average price, the square meter of the homes purchased in April cost 1,336 euros, reflecting an increase of 2.4% year-on-year.
The purchase and sale of housing stood in April in 40,005 transactions, which represents a year-on-year fall of 2%. By type of housing, the sale of flats showed a year-on-year decrease of 1.5% and that of free-price flats a slight increase of 0.1%.
This increase in free-floor transactions was due exclusively to the expansion of second-hand floor sales (1.2%), as new floor sales fell by 10.7% year-on-year. For its part, the sale of single-family homes showed a fall of 3.8% year-on-year.
In terms of financing, the number of new mortgages contracted for the purchase of a home fell by 7.2% year-on-year to 17,778 signatures, with an average amount of 126,646 euros, up 0.4%. In this sense, the percentage of purchases of housing financed by a mortgage loan stood at 44.4%. In addition, in this type of purchases with financing, the average amount of the loan was 75.8%.
