The price of housing in Spain rose by 5.6% in the second quarter of 2017
The average price of second-hand homes registered an increase of 5.8% and that of new homes increased by 4.4%.
The average price of free housing rose by 5.6% in the second quarter of 2017 year-on-year, three tenths more than in the previous quarter, which is the highest growth rate since the first quarter of 2016, according to Housing Price Index (IPV) of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In this way, there are already thirteen consecutive quarters in which house prices have positive interannual rates. In quarter-on-quarter, the average price of housing rose by 2% between April and June.
By type of housing, the average price of second-hand homes increased by a half point, to 5.8% in the second quarter, the highest rate since the first quarter of 2016. In the case of new homes, of 4.4% in the same period, more than one point lower than the previous quarter.
Quarterly increase of 2%
In quarter-on-quarter (second quarter of 2017 on the first quarter), the price of housing increased by 2%, compared to growth of 2.3% in the first three months of 2017. With this new quarterly rebound, the price of housing chains six consecutive quarters of progress. By type of housing, the price of the new one rose by 2.6% in quarter-on-quarter rate, while the price of the used one experienced a quarterly increase of 1.9%.
