The price of housing in the Eurozone rises at the fastest pace in 10 years
In the case of Spain, the price of housing rose by 0.3% in the fourth quarter compared to the previous three months, while compared to the previous year the rebound was 4.4%.
In the fourth quarter of 2016, the price of housing in the euro area increased by 4.1% compared to the same period last year, the highest year-on-year increase since the third quarter of 2007, according to data published by Eurostat.
Compared to the previous three months, the Eurozone housing price rose 0.8%, half a percentage point lower than in the third quarter.
In the European Union as a whole, prices rose by 0.8% compared to the previous three months, when they rose by 1.4%, while the year-on-year rise was 4.7%. The highest increase in nine years.
Among the countries whose data were available, the highest annual price increase was Czech Republic (11%), Hungary (9.7%) and Lithuania (9.5%), while the weakest performance was observed in Italy (0,1%), Finland (1%) and France (1.9%).
